Warning and Acknowledgements for Bathymetry Contours and Weather Forecast

All charts, maps and bathymetry maps are for reference purpose only.

You assume all responsibility and risk for their use and for the use of this application and software options. Make sure you read the End User License Agreement and our Privacy Policy at https://marineforecaster.com/privacy-policy/ .

The depths listed in the specific bathymetry chart are 0.40m, 1m, 3m, 7m, 10m, 20m, 50m, 100m, 500m and respectively in feet such as 1ft, 3ft, 10ft, 23ft, 33ft, 65ft, 164ft, 328ft, 1640ft . This means that these are the only depths appear on this map and not the near depths that may exist. These maps can not be safely used for navigation but were created to provide insight into the specific depths of each area and for fishing purposes. These bathymetry charts meant not to replace the use of authorized government charts. Only official government charts and notices to mariners contain all information needed for the safety of navigation, and as always, the captain is responsible for their prudent use.

Bathymetry Data Source:

Ocean bathymetry is based on a new satellite-gravity model where the gravity-to-topography ratio is calibrated using 298 million edited soundings. The main contribution of this dataset is the compilation and editing of the raw soundings, which come from NOAA, individual scientists, SIO, NGA, JAMSTEC, IFREMER, GEBCO, and NAVOCEANO. The SRTM30_PLUS dataset developed by Scripps Institute Of Oceanography, University of California San Diego (UCSD).

We get our weather data from World Weather Online.

W.W.O’s data comes from a range of sources, which include:

  1. ECMWF atmospheric model output
  2. World Meteorological Organization
  3. GTS land
  4. Ship and data buoy observations

Global weather satellite imagery from both polar orbiting and geostationary satellites

  1. NCEP Global Forecast System (GFS) atmospheric mode output &
  2. Japan Meteorological Agency atmospheric model for northern Asia.

These data sources allow Marineforecaster application to provide weather for around the world. The data for the whole of Europe comes from NCEP and World Meteorological Organization.

The W.W.O. consistently delivers accurate forecasts by running various atmospheric and oceanographic models. From there, the output collected is reviewed by other experienced meteorologists to ensure the resulting information is correct.

Beside the Weather Forecast, Marineforecaster offers to our users for free of charge, Live Weather Data from Live Weather Stations, like NOAA, Greek Observatory of Greece and Weather Underground. This is a measure precaution to help active users sail with safety using real data and not only base in forecasting prediction that always keep a percent of failure in results.
