Live Weather Stations
Make sure you have an internet connection before you start live station search. Open the map and check the stations that appear in your area of interest. Clicking on the station displays the name of the station. Click it on to get the current information. If a station doesn’t transmit data, the Not Available Data (N/A) will be displayed in the data location and it is not a malfunction of the application but a lack of recent data on the station you selected.
The use of Weather Underground Stations (WU), has a limit of 2 data requests per user, per IP, per 6 hours. Since the service is part of a monthly charge, I am kindly requesting US & Greek users to use the NOAA USA Agency and the National Observatory of Athens stations, which are provided by these institutes for free. This enables us to keep the cost under control for the time being and we are happy to share this important life-saving info with other users for free.
We are asking for your understanding. We apologize for any inconvenience.
After more than a year of developing we are proudly presenting for the first time the bathymetry maps in meters and feet for the whole world. The depths that are on those maps are specific and those maps are not to be used for navigation!
** WARNINGS FOR BATHYMETRY CONTOURS
The electronic bathymetry contour and sea map chart is an aid to navigation and fishing purposes, designed to facilitate the use of specific bathymetric contour data, not to replace the use of authorized government charts. Only official government charts and notices to mariners contain all information needed for the safety of navigation, and as always, the captain is responsible for their prudent use.
For the first time, you are going to use this option, you will be asked to register. We will not use your email to spam you but we need to know who our users are and in what way they make use of the application. Of course, it is still free and you can choose not to register for using this particular option of the app. In case you want to have access to the bathymetry maps please register.
If you choose to take weather forecast data by choosing any favorite places saved in Maps, then there is a great saving of data usage, as the map is not opened again to make the site selection.
Furthermore, the application remembers the last weather forecast and you can still see it even if there is no internet access. After six hours the Marineforecaster® application will automatically renew the weather forecast for your last search, providing there is an active connection to the internet and will continue to do so every 6 hours until you close the application.
You have the possibility of sliding your finger from right to left on the name of the place that you saved, a delete button appears (“Delete”) before you can delete it from the list.
In the menu “Maps” application has the following options:
1. Button for exporting My Locations in CSV format. Pressing the CSV button to send email triggered to anyone we want recipient, even so, our email, with attachment in CSV file for further editing or sharing with others. The file contains the name, the coordinates and the date it was to save to the file.
2. Button for weather for the marine weather forecast for this place we have stored.
3. Button with a map. When you press on it you will be moved to a new map. It will take some seconds to load the new map with bathymetry contours for different depths. This option gives us the opportunity to use our device and with the use of GPS that each mobile device uses to navigate back (not recommended using our bathymetry maps for navigation purposes) to where you have saved or check the specific contour depths in the area.
The map shows
a) The position of the user at this moment, on the map with a round starter icon
b) Favorite spot on the position marked with a rhombus pin icon
c) An indication in the selected unit of the distance that separates us from our position at this time to our favorite spot. Each position change increases or reduces the distance between the two points.
